childcare shade regulations

I read with interest recently that leading consumer groups have called for regulation of Shade Sails in childcare centres to ensure that the type of material used provides the right level of protection.

A few articles were run by the major news sites including “UV risk from childcare sun shades” from news.com.au “Deadly ray fear” from the Herald Sun and “Shade cloth ‘cancer risk’ for children” from Adelaide News.

This is a great idea as not enough suppliers and installers pay attention to the UV protections levels of the materials they install.

New regulations for the industry would be welcomed to prevent false claims being made by some suppliers, because there are unfortunately some careless providers in the industry.

Shade Sails offer great UV protection for sun-smart schools when used properly.  We make every effort to set our customers expectations in terms of the levels of UV protection that their shade sail solutions will provide.
